Ready for Adoption!

Babe
(aka B-B or Bluejean Babe)

Babe or "B-B" as she is affectionately called, is a beautiful 4 year old red fawn girl, 67 pounds. She is more than a little timid, wary at first of new situations, but she warms up quickly and is very sweet. She likes to be in her crate with the door open and is as quiet as a mouse. She has a calm and low key personality, but she gets very excited around cats and little dogs, and likes to chase them. We think she's playing, but the smaller critter might not be too sure.

The most important thing to know about Babe is that she is a jumper. She has already shown us that she can clear a four-foot fence, no problem! Anyone who adopts Babe is going to need at least a six-foot fence. Babe needs a fenced yard. Given her timidity, we can't recommend her to a home where she'd always be walked on a leash. If she spooked and got away, it would be very difficult to get her back, even more so than other greyhounds. She would be okay for a leash walk occsionally, so long as you were extra vigilant.

We are calling Babe a special needs baby, because of her shyness. She will need someone with prior greyhound experience who understands the importance of not accidentally leaving a door or gate open, so perhaps an older couple or single person with a set daily routine would be best for her. We think she'll do best in a home without children.

Larry

Larry, as you can see, is a handsome black tuxedo male, four years old, in great health and in great spirits. He's gentle and playful, loves attention when you're ready to give it, and very happy curled up on a blanket or under the table.

He gets along well with other dogs, but is not as playful as some greys, so he would also do well as a solo dog.

Larry is neutered, and the vet says he's in great shape. He's housetrained and up-to-date on his shots. Larry would be a very sweet, calm addition to a good home.

Layla
(formerly Spinner)

Layla is a beautiful girl with the biggest, cutest toothy smile EVER!! All you have to do is LOOK at her and she smiles. She's almost all white except for a few small patches of brindle on her lovely face. Plus she has polka-dot ears.

She turned three in January. She's super small at just 56 pounds. Layla is absolutely adorable, full of energy, and ready to play. She loves people. She does not like cats, but she did great in a foster home with a small Shih Tzu, a Whippet, and an Irish Terrior.

Layla has been in foster care for quite a while, and really needs a home she can call her own. Can she share yours?

Winnie

Winnie is 60 pounds of cuteness, with a dash of saucy! She is friendly, waggy, and a happy, happy girl. She's very social and wants to be in the middle of everything. She's a little nervous about new situations, but once she settles she is a total delight. Winnie is quite curious about our test cats, but we think she can be worked with. In her first foster home, one of the resident cats hissed and batted her, she backed right off! She gets along with other dogs, too, no issues. She is very easy and loves everybody. Winnie turned 3 years old in April, so she is old enough to know the score, but young enough love every minute of her new life! Winnie is simply delightful to have around.

Winnie had a great checkup at the vet's office, and has been spayed. She's housetrained and up-to-date on her shots. She is going to make a fabulous pet for just about any family.

Malcolm

We could tell Malcolm was a good boy from the moment we met him. He didn't try to jump up, was friendly and curious, but not overbearing. He's an average size male at about 70 pounds and just turned four years old in May. He's good on a leash, and a pleasure to go walking with.

Malcolm should not be placed in a home with cats or small dogs. His prey drive is quite high. But, medium to large dogs, no problemo! Malcolm would do well in a house with other greyhounds or medium-to-large dogs.

He's housetrained, up-to-date on his shots, neutered, and had a great checkup at the vet's office. He rides well in the car.

Malcolm loves playing with toys and likes to hoard them in his crate. He is very entertaining!

Our other recent foster dogs have found their new homes, but we'll have more "in stock" pretty soon.

Remember that our goal is to find the perfect match: the right Greyhound for you, and the right home for each Greyhound.

We work with many groups who rescue from breeders, farms, and racetracks all over the country. There are literally hundreds of dogs ready to be adopted, and thousands more who just need a little time with a foster family, learning how to be pets.

So call, write, or email us. Fill out an application, ask questions, or just chat. If there's a spot on your rug, on your couch, or in your heart for a Greyhound, we can help fill that space.

Chloe
(Adopted)

Chloe is a fun-loving, friendly, confident little white girl (with a couple of black patches), not even 2 years old yet (her birthday is in July). She weighs about 60 pounds, has a sweet personality and loves to be close to her humans. You can expect her to stay attached to your hip, bestowing kisses whenever you give her the chance. She gets along great with greyhounds and other medium-to-large dogs, but is waaaay too interested in cats, fuzzy little dogs, squirrels, etc.

Chloe is full of energy, as young greyhounds tend to be, and has been resistant to learning to pee and poo when we leash-walk her. For both of those reasons, we think she needs a home with a fenced-in yard. We think Chloe is absolutely adorable, and she makes us laugh every day.

Puma
(Adopted)

Puma (pronounced Pooma) is a very handsome black tuxedo male, just turned 3 years old in February and weighs 74 pounds. He is a very mellow and well behaved boy; a DREAM on a leash. His personality is friendly and sweet, not a bit shy, but he is very laid back and easy going.

Puma is not cat friendly, but does very well with other medium to large dogs and adores children. He's healthy and happy, housetrained and up-to-date on his shots.

Puma does not like to be alone. His new family should include another dog (greyhound optional), and people who aren't gone all day, every day.

Denny
(Adopted)

Denny is a 3.5 year old white and black cow dog. He weighs 70 pounds and he tested cat friendly. Denny is quite timid, but he's receiving lots of love to help him with his shyness. Every day he's a little more confident, but he will do best in a quiet home. Denny loves dogs of all sizes.

He's healthy, housetrained, neutered, and up-to-date on his shots. If you've got a calm home full of love, we've got a dog full of love who will fit right in.

Salem
(Adopted)

Salem is a 6 year old sweetheart! She's a real talker, loves to sing and roo. Salem is a very submissive dog, but happy, friendly, and enjoys meeting new people and being out and about. Salem gets along great with other dogs of all sizes. She loves her crate; hangs out in there quite often with the door open. She's been in a home for 3 years until her recent return. Salem also tested cat friendly.
